Phanishwar Nath Renu (4 March 1921 – 11 April 1977) was one of the most influential Hindi literature novelists and short-story writers of the post-Premchand era. He is widely celebrated as the pioneer of “Anchalik Katha” (regional fiction), shifting the focus of mainstream Hindi literature from urban or idealized settings directly to the raw, authentic pulse of rural India.
