Mohan Rakesh (born Madan Mohan Guglani; 8 January 1925 – 3 December 1972) was a legendary Indian writer and one of the core pioneers of the Nai Kahani (New Story) literary movement in Hindi literature. He is celebrated for writing the first modern Hindi play, Ashadh Ka Ek Din (1958), which completely transformed contemporary Indian theatre.
